We reached a negative 41-foot altitude as we crossed Death Valley. Then we climbed to around 4ooo feet and observed the 14, 505 foot-peak of Mount Whitney. Incredible!
We found a National Forest land campsite, which was free. The downside was the fact that we failed to noticed the stagnant pool about 10 feet away. Needless-to-say, the mosquitoes were numerous and persistent; however, we learned new ways to avoid them and dive into our tent before they had too much time to follow.
